Soft caps, not hard ones

What 'unlimited fair use' actually means

Soft caps exist for anti-abuse, not margin protection. RENDER_CONCURRENCY_PER_USER (default 3) prevents one bad script from drowning the queue. RENDER_YEARLY_SAFETY_NET (default 5,000 renders/year) sits two orders of magnitude past real usage.

FAQ

The honest answers

What does 'unlimited fair use' actually mean?

Real cost per render is ~$0.001–0.002 in compute plus pennies of storage. The yearly plan's safety net is 5,000 renders/year per account, which is two orders of magnitude past what real users hit. The cap exists to stop runaway scripts, not to constrain serious usage.

Is there a free tier?

No. CaptureBeam is paid from day one — $19.99/mo or $199/yr. We'd rather charge a fair price and ship a polished product than monetize you sideways. Pick the cheaper monthly plan if you're not sure yet; you can switch to yearly later from the customer portal.

What's the difference between monthly and yearly?

Monthly is $19.99/mo, billed every month, cancel any time. Yearly is $199/yr, billed once, works out to $16.58/mo (17% off). Both include every feature. No tier gating, no per-seat upcharges, no add-ons.

Can I render via API or only the dashboard?

Both. Create one or more API keys (cb_live_…) from the dashboard and POST YAML or a project ID to /api/v1/renders. Every render — dashboard or API — shows up in your renders overview, attributed to its source.

Do you have skill files for agents?

Yes — that's a first-class part of the product. /docs/agents ships a downloadable bundle (SKILL.md, JSON Schema, system prompt, worked examples) you can drop into ~/.claude/skills/capturebeam/ or any agent runtime. The schema is also available live at GET /api/v1/schema.

What if my UI changes and the demo breaks?

That's the whole point of the product. Each step has a layered recovery chain: cached selector → re-resolve from intent (role/name/label) → visual anchor on the cached element screenshot → 'needs review' diff. You'll get a notification with the old vs. new screenshots side-by-side rather than a silently broken render.

Do you charge per seat or per render?

Neither. One flat price per account, fair-use rendering. We may introduce per-seat pricing for teams later, but for now there's no per-render meter and no seat limit.

Cancel anytime?

Yes. Open the customer portal from your billing page; cancellation is prorated. Yearly subscribers keep access through the end of the billing period.

Refunds?

If CaptureBeam doesn't work for you in the first 30 days, email [email protected] and we'll refund. After that we're happy to credit specific render failures but the subscription itself isn't refundable.
